One of the successful services Troubadour offers is specialised training in terms of dealing with the public in general and the media in particular.

Many people thrust into high profile positions are nervous of appearing and speaking in public, handling interviews on radio or television or liaising with the electronic and print media, especially if the subjects can be controversial.

Caroline Smart, who is married to Peter Gardner, structures personalised training for individuals or small groups. These are carried out with confidentiality if the client so wishes. A video camera is used during the training sessions so that individuals can assess their own progress and become comfortable with how they appear on television.

Well-known in Durban circles as an award-winning stage and radio actress, she is also a freelance scriptwriter and journalist, voice-over artiste and television producer and one-time presenter for KZN inserts to Good Morning South Africa and Collage. She is also the editor and prime mover behind the Durban Arts Association's monthly award-winning magazine, D'ARTS, which covers all the arts in and around Durban. She has also been one of the final three national nominees two years running for best arts journalist award of the Arts and Culture Trust of the President.

She is also editor of artSMart on www.artsmart.co.za which is an online arts magazine covering the arts in and around Durban and eventually throughout KZN.
